Like you, my parents were generous enough to pick up the tab. For this, I am forever grateful. I think class is a major issue now as is anti-intellectualism. Majors such as English are simply not respected. In fact given cost of college many parents tell their children what they are allowed to major in. This makes sense in a perverse way. The point I am trying to make is that a college education is valued as a means to a career. Nothing that is actually learned is respected, the education itself.william Peacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00223601480542461802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1556371561007953336.post-4094031377981297112012-04-29T15:02:21.672-07:002012-04-29T15:02:21.672-07:00Many years ago, I majored in English in college. I made the money for any extras.

Immediately after graduating, I realized that unless I wanted to be a secretary for the rest of my life, I would have to find a trade. I went to programming school.

Nothing now would make me pay $150k to go to college.

I don't think it's anti-intellectualism as much as it's class division. The rich go to school. The poor do not, without huge sacrifices or enormous luck.Becshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03057614535554183360noreply@blogger.com
